Top Toshiba Tip: Using My Phone Manager

September 1st, 2010

Imagine that you have certain callers that you want to give a better level of service to such as answering their calls before anyone else. The Strata CIX allows the user this ability by using phantom DNs on keys so that when these keys ring, they know which customer is calling and therefore can choose to answer that call first.

If these calls need to be prioritised what happens at lunch time or if meetings take place? This is easily taken care of by setting a call forward on the phantom DN to the position where these important calls will be answered. How do you do that? Either, use a dedicated call forward key on the phone where the phantom DN owner is or, press the actual phantom DN key and use the call forward code. This means that you have to be close to the phone to be able to do it, but what if you want the ability to remotely choose where you want these calls to be forwarded?

My Phone Manager can give the user the ability to remotely choose where they want calls to ring! How do you do that? Point the DDI to an extension – not the phantom DN and then you can easily set in My Phone Manager where you want the calls to ring – in the screen shot attached (click on the Read more link below to view) you can see that extension 3732 is being forwarded for all calls to extension 1000.

Doesn’t this waste an extension having to first of all point the DDI to that, and then have the forward destination as the phantom DN or somewhere else where the call will be answered? Here’s the solution – point the DDI to an IP extension. This IP extension doesn’t have to be plugged in and therefore will not take a resource from the MIPU card. Make sure that, as shown in the attached screen shot(click on the Read more link below to view), you choose Call Forward All Calls and that will allow the call to follow the forward of your choice.
